The summertime can be a drain on your finances in more ways than one. Not only are there more opportunities to go on fabulous trips or have blow out parties at your pad, but there is also more of a need for certain appliances or luxuries such as the air conditioner, pool, etc. During the summer, your wallet can take a hard hit when the electricity bill arrives, but by closely monitoring your energy usage, you can reduce your energy consumption.
Pool Energy Solutions
Summer doesn’t quite feel like summer without swimming, so if you’re fortunate enough to own a pool, you need to work on making it more sustainable. Depending on how warm it gets in your area and how much sunlight the swimming area receives during the day, you might not have a need for a pool heater. However, in the case that you do need one, invest in a solar powered one. Also, remember to keep to a pool cover on when no one is swimming, because this will help maintain the pool’s temperature and prevent the filter from working so hard to remove debris.
Indoor Relaxation
Of course, it’s difficult to be cool, calm and collected when you feel like you’re burning alive in your home. However, you don’t always have to resort to the air conditioner. Instead you can rely on a fan or make sure to run your house fun during the early morning hours and turn it off before it starts to warm up outside. In addition, you can close your blinds and reduce your lighting to as little as possible so heat doesn’t build up.
There are so many different ways you can conserve energy and save money without being uncomfortable during the hot season. Maybe the best route to monitor and compare your energy usage during the seasons is to purchase a monitoring system or device that plugs right into your wall. Then you will know exactly what devices you’re using the most and which ones are sucking your wallet and the planet dry.
